The ultimate UK road trip
This the perfect adventure. There are so many beautiful places to stop off on the way, not just that, but you will visit some of the biggest party cities of the UK. Your summer is sorted!
Travelling from John O’Groats to Land’s End is not a modern idea, oh no, records date back to the 1800’s. Since this time, this ultimate endurance trip has been undertaken by many tens of thousands of people and in a number of incredible ways.
Travel by car
First things first, plan your journey, and document each part, by taking as many photos as possible… This will be a journey of a lifetime! So, lets get started. Going by car? Get KW1 4YR and TR19 7AA typed in to your Satnav, or if you are extra adventurous do it old school and get a map. Once you get to your starting line, get pictures of you all posing at the signpost, which marks the start of the traditional 874 mile journey.
For the adventurous. Walk!
If you want to be a little more adventurous, get your ramble on, and walk. This trek will take you over 1,200 miles… Don’t let that put you off though, it is possible. John and Robert Naylor undertook the first recorded end-to-end walk in 1871. Get down with nature with off-roading with this exceptionally difficult but liberating journey. Beware though, it may take you a couple of months!
Cycle the length of the UK
Want to ride your bike? Do it. Get on your bike. What an amazing feat it will be to bike the whole way! There are even events set up, so you don’t have to go it alone. UK End 2 End organises for around 100 riders to cycle together, to ensure group camaraderie along with ample space on the roads. Attempt the 930 miles in just 9 days, raising funds for a charity close to your heart.
Maybe going by car, foot, or bicycle isn’t for you… Maybe a unicycle is? No joke! The unicycle record for the Lands End to John O’ Groats journey as far as records show is held by Michael Arets and Mike Day who travelled 880 miles, in 14 days 12 hours and 41 minutes in 1986.
