It is often frustrating to find that our scheduled flights are eventually delayed for whatever reason. But flight delays can be less distressing if the airports are as beautiful as the airports below:
1. Beijing International Airport
The colorful dragon-shaped Terminal 3 of the Beijing International Airport runs two miles long and is where about 50 million people pass per year. The Beijing International Airport is the world’s second largest airport.
2. Barajas Airport, Madrid
Richard Rogers Partnership designed the Terminal 4 of the Barajas Airport which was opened in 2006. The terminal features colorful pylons that support a rippling bamboo-lined roof that creates bright space where around 35 million passengers fly every year.
3. TWA Terminal, JFK Airport
Finnish architect Eeero Saarinen built the TWA terminal which was opened in 1962. The concrete material makes the terminal look tough and persistent. According to Saarinen, the architecture would express the excitement of air travel.
4. Carrasco International Airport, Montevideo
Opened in 2009, the 1,000-foot-long, low arch, airport is still fresh. Designed by Rafael Vinoly, the lounges and terraces are designed to be dramatic and welcoming for all the people who are in the airport.
5. Sondika Airport, Bilbao
Established in 2000, the Sondika Airport a.k.a La Paloma or the Dove is designed by Santiago Calatrava. The sunlight and consistent pattern show contemporary feel to the visitors.
6. Incheon International Airport
Denver’s Fentress Architects designed the Incheon airport opened in 2001. The airport is designed to be the terrace of South Korea that features Korean culture.
7. Marrakech Menara Airport
Traditional Islamic and modernism architecture are merged into this new airport. The team of E2A Architecture designed the airport that has huge concrete rhombuses for the structure.
8. Chek Lap Kok Airport
Foster and Partner’s Chek Lap Kok Airport is more modest than its sister the Beijing airport. It is completely easy to access the airport by train. The airport is designed to have multi-functions for all types of passengers.
9. Tempelhof International Airport
Unfortunately, this classic airport had been closed in 2008. It was recognized by the public thanks to the Berlin Airlift of 1948-1949. Now the airport has been transformed into a huge city park and cultural center.
10. Malvinas Argentinas Airport
The beauty comes together with its controversy. Located in the southernmost of the world, the airport presents the visitors with a panoramic view of the Andes Mountains.
