Ibiza is a small island in Spain with a high beach area to surface area ratio. That means that from anywhere on the island a beautiful beach is just a short drive away. If you’re looking for a secluded cove, an untouched bay, a busy beach or a sunset spot, Ibiza has each type in abundance. You will be spoilt for choice! With so many beaches in Ibiza and so little time, which ones should come at the top of your list?
1. Es Figueral
In the east of the island, 10 minutes from San Carlos, lays Es Figueral Beach, known for its size and stunning sea views. A soft, sandy beach backed by rocking terrain and green rolling hills make it a popular spot for walkers. It is well facilitated with some of the best hotels on the beach in Ibiza, nice restaurants, beach amenities and water sports such as windsurfing and water skiing. It is complemented by views of the privately owned island, Tago Mago.
2. Santa Eulalia
Situated on the east coast, in Ibiza´s third largest town is the beautiful Santa Eulalia beach. Here is all about fun in the sun. The soft white sand beach is perfect for sun bathing and the shallow clear waters are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The pleasant, relatively quiet town and promenade, attracts families and couples to its many restaurants, bars and shopping areas.
3. Portinatx
Despite being a little out of the way on the island´s northwest coast and some 18 miles from Ibiza Town, Portinatx welcomes a steady stream of visitors throughout the summer. The distance actually creates a welcome escape from Ibiza´s busy areas during the high season, making it perfect for families and those looking to avoid the clubbing scene. Three sandy beaches make up the area, which are well equipped with water sports, beach bars and shops. The waters are also very calm and shallow.
4. Playa d´en Bossa
Just outside Ibiza Town, on the south coast, is one of Ibiza´s best known beaches. It is the longest beach on the island with soft golden sand and often choppy waters which are perfect for windsurfing and playing in the waves. Home to day time Super Club Space, the party vibe picks up after lunchtime. There is an array of chill out bars, boutiques and restaurants and it is home to the famous Bora Bora open air beach club.
5. Cala Bassa
On the west coast of the Island, a short drive away from San Antonio, lays the popular beach of Cala Bassa. It is popular opinion that it is the cleanest beach on the island and it is fact that it has the clearest sallowest waters perfect for paddling, with a designated area for swimmers, safe from the water sports. It is very secluded, away from built up areas where you can enjoy some shade and maybe a picnic under the branches of the pine forest that lines the coast.
These are just a few of the amazing beaches in Ibiza. Do you have some other beaches to add?
