Devon is a favourite holiday destination in the South-West of the UK and once you visit it is easy to see why. Typically Devon is a place where you can escape to, conjuring up images of beautiful beaches and crisp blue seas and as well as this stunning natural beauty. No matter the weather outside, you can be sure that there will be plenty to do your next trip to Devon.
What you do in on your trip will really depend on the type of activity that you enjoy; here are a few of our personal favourite fun things to do in Devon.
Please click on the interactive map to see each venues location, directions & website.
1. Exmoor National Park
The first on our list of fun things to do in Devon is one place that those who are looking for an exciting break packed full with activity will want to check out. Exmoor National Park is a really interesting mix of landscapes; moorland, woodland, valleys and even farmland, there really is so much to discover here.
More than just a national park, Exmoor is able to offer so much to those who visit; walking, cycling, climbing and even just kicking back and enjoying a delicious local produced meal in one of the many pubs and restaurants. You can easily have a holiday in just Exmoor itself, making it one of the best places to see in Devon.
2. Crealy Park
Slightly removed from the beauty of Exmoor, however just as action packed, is Crealy Park. Crealy is a place of excitement and adventure with over 60 rides and attractions and even an indoor soft play area, meaning that if you are looking for plenty of fun things to do in Devon for all the family, you can’t go wrong with a day out at Crealy Park.
Even better when it comes to Crealy, not only is there enough rides and attractions to entertain your brood for an entire day, but there is also over 100 animals at Crealy too, making it the ideal family day out.
3. River Exe Café
Once the evening draws in and the time comes to find somewhere to eat in Devon, then a consideration for your dinner plans has to be River Exe Café. Unique and interesting, this floating restaurant is not only fun to visit but also serves up some of the most delicious locally sourced food in Devon.
The only drawback of this café is just how popular it is, in fact we would suggest to you that in order to enjoy the great food here you will most certainly need to book in advance!
4. Paignton Zoo
Keeping on the animal theme is a day out at Paignton Zoo, boasting one of the largest animal collections in the South West (some 2,000 creatures in one zoo). This really is one of the must see things to do in Devon for animal lovers!
Featuring some of the staple zoo classics such as giraffes, lions and cheetahs as well as indoor play areas and six natural habitats, you can be sure to have a truly fascinating and interesting day out if you pick Paignton.
5. Llama trekking
Finally, we have something that is a bit more off the wall when it comes to experience. Walking with llamas is a unique experience allowing you to not only try something you might not get a chance to elsewhere, but also take advantage of the chance to admire the beautiful landscape and scenery of the Jurassic Coast.
With a variety of different packages available we highly recommend this interesting take on hiking and exploring.
So there you have it, we have our summary of some fun things to do in Devon; however that is not to say that there are not plenty of other sights to see and things to experience. Make Devon your destination of choice and you will be sure to have a holiday to remember.
